My first micaceous pot complete, there will be more! So many discoveries, so many possibilities! I love when this happens in the pursuit of my craft.
I am trying a new clay body called micaceous clay, so-named because it contains the mineral mica. It is popular in the southwest U.S. with native American potters for making cookware. More recently it is used for unique art objects. It is usually coiled or hand molded. This piece is coiled and thrown on a potters wheel.
